Why do padel courts have sand?

As builders & regular players of this sport, we are often asked on the usage of sand in the artificial grass. Today, we bring you the answer so that your curiosity can finally be satisfied. There are 3 types of surface for this sport; porous concrete, cement & artificial turf. The latter material is the most widely used & accepted around the world & is the only one with the grain spread. The function of sand A sand’s function in this sport is more important than it seems. The usage of sand allows for greater & more effective control of the ball along with prevention of injuries & slips. The usage of sand also helps to increase the lifespan of the product as without sand the wear and tear on the turf would be much more ephemeral.  In addition to that, silica sand also helps to prevent any unwanted growth of organisms or fungi that could arrive from moisture. The most common type of sand used is silica with a grain size ranging from 0.5mm to 0.8mm. The maintenance of the sand is important as it has to be controlled and periodically swept so that it has to be spread equally throughout the court. It is also very important to know how much silica sand has to be added in the artificial turf but this factor depends on the type of turf that is used.
